9.1.B. Definition of a Clinical Scholar

Clinical Scholars are paid employees of Stanford University, classified as casual staff and are, in general, subject to and expected to comply with the University’s applicable policies and procedures, including (in general) the employment policies and procedures in Chapter 2 of Stanford University’s Administrative Guide.

A Clinical Scholar may serve as an attending (billing) physician, but only within his or her boarded (or board eligible) specialty and not in the sub-specialty area in which he or she is a trainee. While not required, a Clinical Scholar may also participate in research if it is part of his or her assigned responsibilities as a Clinical Scholar
