9.1.C. Programmatic Need, Position and Resource Allocation

Programmatic need, including financial viability, must be evaluated and established for each Clinical Scholar appointment and reappointment.

Unlike the Professoriate, which is subject to a billet cap, there is no formal limit on the number of Clinical Scholar positions in the School; rather, the number of positions is governed by a department’s programmatic need and funding capacity, and by School approval. Each regular (benefits-eligible) Clinical Scholar position is assigned a unique position number for purposes of recordkeeping and reporting. Clinical Scholars employed in contingent or casual capacity will be assigned to shared position numbers.
