Postdoctoral Research Training Office Team


The Postdoctoral Research Training Office within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University is co-directed by Dr. F. Vankee Lin and Dr. Luis de Lecea, with management by Chris Medina. The office provides support for approximately 110 research postdoctoral scholars, including those affiliated with the VA, offering a comprehensive framework to foster their academic and professional development.

Mission

Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of leaders in psychiatry and behavioral sciences by providing robust support and advocacy for postdoctoral scholars. Functions

Professional development

We provide workshops, seminars, and mentorship opportunities designed to enhance research, leadership, and teaching skills, preparing postdoctoral scholars for successful, independent careers.

Career guidance

Our office offers personalized career counseling, including assistance with job searches, CV and resume development, and interview preparation, supporting postdocs in achieving their professional aspirations.

Policy administration

We oversee and implement policies and procedures related to postdoctoral appointments, ensuring compliance with both university and departmental guidelines.

Community building

By organizing networking events and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations, we aim to create a dynamic, engaging environment that connects scholars within the department and across the broader Stanford community.

Training Programs

The department hosts several T32 and equivalent research training programs, which provide specialized research training in various areas of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, offering structured mentorship, skill development, and career guidance. These programs are designed to equip scholars with the expertise required to advance the field and contribute meaningfully to clinical and translational research.
