4th Annual Medical & Bioscience Education Day/SIMEC V

Our theme for this year is “Teaching Matters: Belonging, Community, Diversity.” This event features skills-based workshops, plenaries on teaching and mentoring, and presentations of educational scholarship from the Stanford Medicine community. We believe you will find it a great opportunity both to develop new ideas for and to be inspired in your teaching and mentoring practice.

Navigating racial bias — An evening with Professor Jennifer Eberhardt

The Stanford Undergraduate Neuroscience Society has the pleasure of welcoming Professor Jennifer Eberhardt to discuss her work in navigating racial bias within different spheres in addition to deriving future steps from this knowledge. Professor Eberhardt has been a pioneer in the field of social psychology. Her work anchors in criminal justice and extends to startling images of racial imagery and discrimination. In addition to being on Oprah (watch here), Dr. Eberhardt's TED Talk here has shown millions of people about racial bias and ways to disrupt it.

Intersectionality in recognition that now more than ever, it is imperative to prioritize an inclusive and equitable community for intersectional LGBTQ+ groups. 

The featured keynote speaker will be Jonathan Lassiter, PhD, co-editor of Black LGBT Health in the United States: The Intersection of Race, Gender, and Sexual Orientation. Dr. Lassiter and a panel of featured Stanford community members will share both personal and professional experiences related to this theme. The audience will have an opportunity to interact with the speakers through a live Q&A and polling.

Neurosciences Diversity Coordinator

The Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology at Stanford University School of Medicine are seeking a Diversity Coordinator. This newly created position will assist the Vice Chair and Director of Diversity and will provide administrative support for outreach initiatives related to diversity and inclusion in the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology. Our departments are committed to expanding access to underrepresented minorities in the neurosciences and are looking for an administrative professional who is passionate about social justice and intersectionality issues, and can help us enhance and promote our diversity programs locally and nationally.


Funded visitor clerkships

These opportunities are for Senior medical students from groups that have been traditionally under-represented in medicine to have a month-long clinical experience at Stanford. Our goal is to highlight all that the Stanford Neurology residency training program has to offer, including world-class clinical education and varied case exposure from all subspecialties, state-of-the art clinical and research technology and innovation, a warm and welcoming community, and career mentorship wherever your interests may lie.
