GME Gym
The GME gym is located on the 4th floor of the SHC. Equipment includes: stair-climbers, treadmills, bicycles and weights. Residents must use their access card to enter and exit the roof access door that leads to the gym. The code for the gym door can be found posted above the keypad used to access the gym.
GME Lounge HC433
The GME lounge is located on the 4th floor of the hospital, room HC433, next to the GME Office. The lounge is furnished with sofas, chairs, television, pool table, refrigerator and microwave. This is provided to Residents for their comfort, however we ask to please be mindful of the noise level for the nearby on-call sleeping rooms.
Housestaff Information Technology Enhancement Council
HITEC (Housestaff Information Technology Enhancement Council) has created a site for resources for residents COVID-19. The site includes Epic and IT information and processes to help residents and fellows provide excellent patient care.
Lactation Room HC404
The GME lactation lounge is located on the 4th floor of the SHC, room HC404, across the stairway from the GME Office.
Lane Medical Library
The Lane Medical Library is located in the Lane Building, in the courtyard next to Stanford Hospital. Our extensive resources and services are available to all Stanford residents and fellows. Although the library’s physical space is currently closed, our digital services and resources are available via Lane’s website. These include: literature review support; digital document delivery; library classes via Zoom; and Lane’s liaison program. Please feel free to contact us by email via AskUs
Lane Library has liscensed access to BoardVitals, a well-regarded board exam preparation resource. Once registered, users can access BoardVitals from anywhere, anytime. Mobile phone apps are also available for iPhones and Androids.

Please note: You need to register using your Stanford-affliated email (stanford.edu, stanfordhealthcare.org, or stanfordchildrens.org). If you do not, you will hit a paywall. After your initial registration, you can access BoardVitals from any device on/off-campus network.
On-Call Quarters
There are on call quarters assigned by service throughout 300P and 500P. Your senior residents can provide specific information on these rooms.
There are an additional 21 on-call rooms located on the 4th floor of 300P via the N stairwell (plus a few more call rooms via the Lstairwell). There is also a small gym, lounge, work room with computers, lactation lounge and bathrooms with showers. The GME Department is located here in room HC435 to provide administrative services such as student loan deferments and to answer questions. Your photo ID badge will provide access to this house staff only area.
Call Rooms Policy:
- First come first served-cannot be reserved. There IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE
- Lock the door when in use (to prevent being disturbed)
- Use the occupied sign when inside
- Move sign to vacant when finished with the room-so housekeeping can attend to the room
- The window units are combination cool/hot air. (red is for heat and blue is for cool)
Please inform GME staff know if you need light bulbs, extra blankets, or the rooms need repairs.

Standard Process Description: ED Valet For On-Call Emergency Responding Staffs
To learn more about the valet parking option for on-call emergency response house staff, please download and read the specifics outlined in this document (link below).
Emergency on-call clinical faculty and hospital staff with a response time of 30 minutes or less and are coming from home or off-site to an emergency should go straight to the Pediatric Emergency Department at 300P (900 Quarry Road Extension) or the Adult and Trauma Emergency Department at 500P (1189 Welch Road). Note, a permit is required to park at both 300P and 500P ED locations. On-call permits are required in order to park inside the Pasteur Staff Garage near 500P ED. To submit a request for an on-call staff permit, please follow the following link for parking and application instructions:

Day Shift Parking:

Swing Shift Option:
- House Staff working swing for shifts starting after 1:00 p.m. continue to have access to Pasteur Staff Garage parking on a cost-free basis.
Night Shift/Weekend Option:
- Night Shift (after 4pm) and weekend (all day) can access parking at Pasteur Visitor Garage (200 Pasteur Drive) or Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital West Garage (725 Welch Road) at no charge with approved badge access.

- Night and weekend parking is also available at the 500P – Pasteur Staff Garage, but staff must exit the garage prior to 7:00am on weekdays or be subject to daily parking fees ($12). Entry is permitted on weekdays between 4PM and 4AM and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.
If House Staff are on-call staff with a required response time of 30 minutes or less, they may also be eligible for Emergent On-Call parking at the 500P – Pasteur Staff Garage or the 300 Pasteur Emergency Department. This parking access is only intended for use in responding to qualifying situations with a response time of 30 minutes or less. Resident/Fellow Workroom HC403
The GME Resident/Fellow workroom is on the 4th floor of the SHC, room HC403, across the stairway from the GME Office. This workroom offers day lockers, computers, a phone and a printer for Residents to enjoy a quiet workspace.

Stanford Golf Course
Stanford University Golf Course is in the foothills above the Stanford University Campus, the golf course is consistently rated one of the finest courses in the world. Residents may sign up to be on the GME golf list and play at a reduced rate of $25.
Rules:
- Sign-ups must be in person at the GME Office, room HC435.
- To allow access for all, Residents are given up to two (2) months on a first come, first serve basis.
* Residents may sign up for additional months in the low-demand months. In order for these additional months not to count against your two (2) months, sign-up must be on the last day of the month based on availability. - Guest pay $125, subject to change. Welch Road Apartments
Seventy-two (72) apartments located adjacent to Stanford Health Care are available for house staff. They are configured as studios, one (1) and two (2) bedroom units. The application for the Welch Road Apartments are sent to incoming house staff along with their contracts in late March/April. Assignments are made via lottery in May. Tenancy is limited to the term of house staff's initial Stanford residency. There is a strict no pet policy.
