Fatigue Mitigation/ Uber Rideshare Registration and Guidelines

Stanford Health Care (SHC) provides fatigue mitigation via use of Uber. Residents/fellows will receive a link to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Uber account upon commencement of training at SHC. The Uber link allows rides from SHC, LPCH, the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs (VA), Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), and Kaiser Santa Clara to Resident’s/fellow’s home address of record in the GME’s MedHub system. The system also allows for a return ride from your home address of record back to the originating hospital site.

Residents/Fellows needing to use Uber for fatigue mitigation from other rotation sites must email Farah Yawary at fyawary@stanfordhealthcare.org 30 days prior to the start of the rotation to have the site added to GME’s Uber account.

  • Please watch for the email link for the Uber account set up.
  • Check your MedHub account to ensure your accurate home address or update your address if necessary.

Please observe the following guidelines when using your SHC UBER Account. GME will monitor usage and review the UBER report monthly and a formal policy will be created using the same guidelines.

  • If you have both a personal and SHC Business account with UBER, select the SHC account only for it’s intended purposes.
  • As a reminder – UBER is only to be used for FATIGUE MITIGATION – when you are too tired to drive home after a shift.
  • It should not be used for daily commute, car repairs, airport, dry cleaning, or any other reasons.
  • Failure to comply will result in the following: Reimbursement of charges, Access Suspension, and or Termination.
  • Initial ride must derive from any Stanford Affiliate site listed in the App.
  • 2 rides are permitted each day, for round trip purposes so you can retrieve your vehicle.
  • Permitted a 0.25 mile radius to allow those who parked a distance away from campus.
  • You should not have UBER make personal stops for anything other than home drop off.
