The Byers Eye Institute ranks top 5 in national research funding rankings

The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research released their 2021 year-end rankings. The Byers Eye Institute ranked a new all-time high #5 in National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded medical school departments of ophthalmology, and Stanford University eye researchers ranked #4 in National Eye Institute-funded academic institutions. BRIMR also recognized top NIH-funded ophthalmology department faculty including in the top 100, Drs. Jeffrey Goldberg (#6), Michael Kapiloff (#16), Alf Dubra (#31), and Yang Hu (#39). Congratulations to all our Stanford colleagues!

NIH funding together with committed foundations and the philanthropic support of our community gives us the tremendous opportunity to accelerate research, engage in high-risk, high-reward science, and make exciting progress towards developing improved treatments and cures for eye disease and vision loss. We are very grateful for these opportunities to rapidly transform lab discoveries into effective treatments for patients.
