MEDICAL STUDENT EDUCATION

The Department of Ophthalmology sponsors several ophthalmology clerkships. Among them: 

• A two-week introductory ophthalmology elective clerkship for Stanford students
• A four-week hands-on clinical externship at Byers Eye Institute, the Palo Alto VA Medical Center, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (open to visiting students) 
• A similar two-week externship at the Livermore VA Medical Center (also open to visiting students).
