Dr. Teresa Nguyen, a CA-3 at Stanford Anesthesia, recently received the Stanford AI in Medicine & Imaging - Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Partnership Grant. Dr. Nguyen is deeply committed to research at the nexus of AI and medicine. Her work focuses on two main domains: study of AI large language models’ performance and applications in healthcare and the development of AI-enabled robots to improve patient experiences. She is an affiliated faculty member of the Stanford Institute for Human-Center Artificial Intelligence and serves as the Co-Principal Investigator with Professor Karen Liu from the Department of Computer Science on creating AI-enabled quadrupeds for better patient care, a project funded by the HAI-AIMI grant. Dr. Nguyen earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 2016 and her medical doctorate in 2020, continuing her residency at Stanford. Outside of medicine, she lectures at the Stanford School of Chemistry, enjoys flying as a helicopter pilot, and has co-founded two nonprofits: The Lighthouse Initiatives, aiding first-generation, low-income students in college admissions, and Hands-On Robotics, promoting robotics education, research, and outreach.

Congratulations Dr. Nguyen!
