The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking new adult or pediatric pain psychology faculty members at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator (CE) Line. The Department has well established multidisciplinary adult and pediatric pain management clinics. These groups are committed to advancing the treatment of pain through innovative treatments, advocacy, education and research.

Clinical psychologist applicants must have a doctoral degree in psychology or equivalent degree, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and possess or be fully eligible for licensure as a psychologist in California. Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University is seeking new pediatric pain faculty members at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator (CE) Line, who will join our well established, interdisciplinary pediatric pain management team. The Pediatric Pain team oversees an active acute pain inpatient program, outpatient pain clinics in the Bay Area, interventional pediatric pain management, and an outpatient pain rehabilitation program.

To qualify, applicants must be fellowship-trained anesthesiologists or pediatric anesthesiologists with additional training in chronic pain (pediatric and/or adult pain); board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology and/or pediatric anesthesiology, and pain medicine is required. Additional training in Complementary & Alternative Medicine including integrative medicine, clinical hypnosis or acupuncture would be welcome.

Successful candidates’ clinical focus will include outpatient pain, inpatient pain, and/or integrative medicine clinic. Other clinical responsibilities may include pediatric anesthesiology in the operating rooms at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. In-house weekend coverage and night call coverage are included as part of clinical responsibilities.

Candidates may have programs focusing on clinical trials, regional anesthesia, implementation science, economics, epidemiology, health services research, public health policy, precision medicine, or other high-impact topics.

The Director of Psychology Services in Pediatric Pain Medicine will oversee all aspects of psychological care and intervention for youth experiencing chronic pain. The Pediatric Pain team oversees an active acute pain inpatient program, outpatient pain clinics in the Bay Area, interventional pediatric pain management, and an outpatient pain rehabilitation program. Our comprehensive biopsychosocial approach to pain is implemented by a team including pain psychologists, pain physicians, advanced practice nurses, and physical therapists.

Desired qualifications include a degree in clinical, health, or pediatric psychology with a specialization in pediatrics from an accredited institution, specialized training or experience in pediatric pain management, and leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in pain psychology or interdisciplinary pain management programs.
