Heart Transplant Program Statistics

Stanford’s Heart Transplant Program is the longest continually active program performing heart transplants in the world. To-date, over 1,720 heart transplants have been performed at Stanford since 1968.

Heart transplant statistics:

1-year graft survival: 90%

1-year patient survival: 90%

MCS patient survival:

1 year overall VAD survival (censored for transplant): 63%

1 year DT survival (censored for transplant): 57%

1 year BTT survival (censored for transplant): 72%

1 year survival of VAD recipients who have been transplanted: 100% (3 patients who were implanted in 2016, have been transplanted since implant, and all are surviving)
