The goal of the Stanford University Minority Medical Alliance (SUMMA) is to increase diversity in the health professions to better care for underserved communities. Our annual pre-health conference is one of the oldest on the West Coast and draws hundreds of students from throughout California and the nation.

The SUMMA Conference is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity in Medical Education (ODME) at the Stanford School of Medicine. The mission of ODME is to cultivate and sustain an environment that fosters the development of diverse physician leaders who are committed to eliminating the nation’s health inequities through patient care, education, research, and advocacy. ODME provides support to Stanford's minority medical students as they work toward their degrees and to a future in health care with better outcomes for minority patients.
