American Indians Accessing Health Professions Program

On August 11-13, 2022, the Office of Diversity in Medical Education (ODME) at the Stanford School of Medicine co-sponsored the 7th Annual American Indians Accessing Health Professions Program (AIAHPP).  The AIAHPP is designed to provide American Indian, Alaska Native, and Indigenous students from undergraduate, community and tribal colleges exposure to different careers in the health professions, as well as the tools and mentors to help them get there.

To accomplish this goal the AIAPPP offers variety of workshops and activities to educate and empower students to pursue a medical/health career. Native American premedical students from around the nation traveled to Stanford School of Medicine in August to attend the AIAPPH event, including Native American faculty from around the state of California, and from Stanford Medicine as well.  Various Stanford community members including the Stanford American Indigenous Medical Students (SAIMS), the Native American Cultural Center, Stanford MD Admissions, Stanford medical student volunteers and undergraduates participated in the event.

Please see the conference agenda to view the workshops and sessions offered. In addition, please visit the AIAHPP Photo Book to view the program in action.
