  • Details: Facilitating the skills development of our faculty educators and mentors is a core part of the Academy’s mission, and we strive to deliver several programs that will accomplish this. These include training programs in teaching skills and mentoring skills, educational scholarship, and instructional peer observation.

Medical & Bioscience Education Seminar Series – One-hour seminars that provide an opportunity for the community to learn about educational scholarship and innovation. Offered monthly October to June.

Education Day Conference – Once a year conference focused on skills and scholarship for effective teaching and mentoring.

Innovation Grants Program – Grant funding to support projects aimed at innovation and improvement in teaching, learning, and mentoring. Request for proposals published annually in the Spring.

Mastering Medical Teaching – Online course covering the key concepts and teaching behaviors of a framework for effective teaching. Optional cohort model.

SHaPES – A yearlong faculty development program made up of monthly seminars designed to introduce clinical educators to fundamental concepts in education.

  • TMA Office Hours - One-on-one sessions for faculty, residents, post-docs, and students working on education innovation and research projects and seeking guidance on project planning, implementation, evaluation, or dissemination.
