Stanford School of Medicine and Stanford University have a wide variety of faculty training opportunities. The Office of Faculty Development and Diversity (OFDD) and the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) created a centralized faculty training website with go-to resources for your professional development.

Resources are organized in the twelve categories below. Under each category are Stanford organizations highlighting the type of program, intended audiences, sponsoring unit, how to join, duration/logistics, details, and the website links/contact information. 

  • Center for Teaching and Learning

    The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports evidence-based and inclusive learning and teaching practices, educational programs and training, community building, and strong collaborations and partnerships with schools, departments, and other offices. The Course Design Institute (CDI), Teaching with Technology and IDEAL Pedagogy program are prominent examples of core offerings for our Stanford faculty.   • GSB Executive Leadership Development Program

    This executive program strengthens your management acumen and interpersonal skills to build effective teams and successfully navigate challenges. Open to Stanford Medicine faculty of all ranks and lines.

  • GSB Executive Program for Women Leaders

    This executive program provides strategies and solutions for the workplace challenges that women uniquely face. Open to Stanford Medicine faculty of all ranks and lines.

  • Stanford Fellows

    This program broadens faculty and senior staff members' understanding of the university and its mission. Open to Stanford Medicine faculty of all ranks and lines. Those nominated are limited to faculty in the Academic Council (professoriate).

  • Stanford Leadership Academy

    This academy builds and expands on the leadership capabilities of the faculty, staff, and health care administrators who guide the university now and in the future. Open to Stanford Medicine faculty of all ranks and lines. Those nominated are limited to faculty in the Academic Council (professoriate).

  • Office of Faculty Development, Diversity and Engagement

    The Office of Faculty Development, Diversity and Engagement (OFDDE) serves as a central resource for faculty recruits, newly hired faculty and early career faculty in their transition to the Stanford community and on their journey toward tenure (ex: New Faculty Orientation) and supports faculty through a variety of programs and resources, including those to support diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as the Creating Inclusive Spaces of Belonging workshops. Open to Stanford Medicine faculty of all ranks and lines.

  • University IT / UIT - Technology Training

    UIT Technology Training Program offers technology training to support the personal and professional development of the Stanford community including Stanford faculty, lecturers, and instructors. Topics include but are not limited to data analytics, software applications, programming languages, Agile, Project Management, and quality improvement. UIT also offers instructional design/course development, online learning resources and individual/custom team training. Open to the entire Stanford community.
