The Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley Family Medicine (FM) Residency Program is the first Graduate Medical Education (GME) program at Tri-Valley and has the full support of the medical staff, hospital leadership, and Stanford Health Care.

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley Hospital is a 160-bed community hospital that is staffed with Stanford faculty as well as experienced community providers. Over the past 8 years, the hospital has expanded and grown to become a regional referral center. Tri-Valley Hospital will be the site for most of the inpatient rotations, including the inpatient medicine, L&D, surgery, and many subspecialty rotations. It combines the best of world class medical care and teaching with a friendly and welcoming community feel. Our affiliation with Stanford Health Care and our many Stanford School of Medicine faculty create a hybrid community/academic environment, the perfect location for an unopposed residency program.

We have created a robust FM Residency outpatient training model at Tri-Valley, with a unique mix of a comprehensive Stanford-affiliated community clinic and an underserved Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) at Axis Community Health.

Our Stanford community outpatient clinic is brand new and designed just for the residency, located 1 mile from the hospital at the Hacienda Lake complex. The clinic will have 22 exam rooms, a procedure room, osteopathic manipulation therapy table, and point-of-care ultrasound machines all on the first floor. There are also x-ray and lab facilities at the Hacienda Lake complex; new resident and program staff work spaces; and an academic space with conference rooms and program leaders’ offices so that the program director and faculty can be easily accessible to residents.

Our FQHC partner, Axis Community Health, is situated at a newly renovated 7 room clinic at the Railroad location near downtown Pleasanton and only 2.5 miles from the Hospital. Axis serves the most vulnerable patients in our community and also provides extensive behavioral health services, which will be a valuable resident experience.
