Family Medicine Residency Program
Medical education with breadth and depth
Beyond leading residents through a rigorous curriculum that covers all the core focuses of family medicine, the Tri-Valley FM Residency program gives residents the opportunity to learn at a variety of active hospitals and clinics—all under the guidance of Stanford faculty.
Program Year 1
- Inpatient Adult Medicine – 8 weeks
- OBGYN – 2 weeks L&D / 2 outpatient
- Emergency Medicine – 4 weeks
- ICU – 4 weeks
- Cardiology – 4 weeks inpatient/outpatient
- Family Medicine Clinic at Axis Clinic or SMP Family Medicine – 4 weeks
- Night Float - 2 weeks
- Elective - 2 weeks
- Surgery – 4 weeks
- NICU/Newborn/Peds Emergency Medicine – 4 weeks
- Pediatrics Outpatient at Stanford Medicine Partners – 4 weeks
- Orthopedics at Stanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Pleasanton – 4 weeks
- Psychiatry/Behavioral Health at Axis – 4 weeks
Program Year 2
- Inpatient Family Medicine – 10 weeks
- Night Float – 2 weeks
- OBGYN – 2 weeks L&D / 2 weeks outpatient
- Family Medicine Clinic – 8 weeks
- Inpatient Pediatrics - 4 weeks
- Pediatrics Outpatient at Alameda Pediatrics Associates – 4 weeks
- Dermatology at Stanford Dermatology Clinic in Livermore – 4 weeks
- Population Health and QI – 4 weeks
- POCUS and Radiology – 4 weeks
- Elective – 10 weeks
Program Year 3
- Inpatient Family Medicine – 8 weeks
- Night float – 2 or 3 weeks
- Family Medicine Clinic – 8 weeks
- Palliative Care/Hospice – 4 weeks
- Ophthalmology, Urology, Mixed Surgical Rotation – 4 weeks
- Addiction Medicine at Diablo Valley Drug and Alcohol Services – 4 weeks
- Health Systems Management – 4 weeks
- Geriatrics at Pleasanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – 4 weeks
- Electives – 14 weeks
