Topic: Improving access to pediatric liver transplantation
Specific lecture: (a) emphasizing the role of structural racism in the apparent racial and ethnic health care disparities in pediatric liver transplantation - highlighting notable disparities in pre-transplant outcomes in Black and Hispanic children, (b) share my current grant-funded research aimed at targeting the structural racism in our pre-transplant process to achieve equitable outcomes for all children awaiting liver transplantation by:
transparency in our institutional pre-transplant process through developing a live health equity dashboard,
determining psychosocial barriers in the pre-transplant process - and partnering with the patient/patient families and community-engaged partners to develop standardized screening tools and targeted interventions.
