iMPACt

Mid-peninsula Pediatric Advocacy Coalition

Our History

In 2016, a group of pediatricians and other health professionals from the Office of Child Health Equity, Fair Oaks Health Center, Gardner Packard Children’s Health Center, Mayview Community Health Center, and Ravenswood Family Health Center created iMPACt: the Mid-peninsula Pediatric Advocacy Coalition, to address the social determinants of health affecting the children and families in this area in a joint, coordinated way. Past coalition projects have focused on family poverty, early education, and mental health. iMPACt also puts together food and educational resource guides for families yearly.

Our Work

In 2023, OCHE led and faciliatated 22 iMPACT meetings focusing on 4 rotating topics: Early Education, Basic Needs, Anti-Racism, and Newborn Support. The following guest speakers joined our meeting: Raising a Reader, Reach Out and Read, San Mateo Legal Aid on Public Change, One Life/Una Vida Counseling, Stanford Pediatric Infectious Disease, Good Karma Bikes, and Global Compassion Coalition.

We continue to work with the San Mateo Medical Center (Daly City, Fair Oaks, Half Moon Bay) Gardner Packard (Palo Alto), Ravenswood Family Health Network (Ravenswood and Mayview), Stanford Pediatric Emergency Department, and Stanford Newborn Nursery clinics. We also partner with schools and are currently working with the Redwood City School District and the Primary School.

In addition to our meetings, we support our clinics and schools by organizing and distributing donations. This year, our clinics iMPACT clinics have received diapers, formula, thermometers, and more.

"Our charge nurse at Daly City Clinic shared with us that she received [OCHE]'s email about the donations of diapers, formula, and thermometers. Everyone at our clinic is thrilled! These items make such a difference to our patients and to our staff who get to provide the items to patients in need. We are so grateful!"
