Stanford Neurosurgery Sub-Internships

We offer a maximum of one 4-week sub-internship to MD or DO students who will be enrolled in their fourth or final year at a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association.

Since Stanford medical students have priority to take elective clerkships that are open to visitors, visiting students are only scheduled during a specified time each quarter. Please find more information about the Visiting Clerkship program here.

Application Process:

Stanford medical students will add their sub-internship clerkship directly through FishBowl.

For our visiting medical students interested in a sub-internship at Stanford Neurosurgery, we have two application paths. For both of these paths, it is recommended to apply in February or March.

  1. Standard application
  2. SCORE Program for underrepresented in medicine (URiM) students

For standard applications, please visit the Stanford Bulletin Course NSUR 318A for more information.

To apply, please email Shanna Selsor at selsor@stanford.edu for preapproval with:

  • your CV
  • a cover letter,
  • at least 1 letter of recommendation.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.

If accepted for enrollment, applicants will be notified in May.
