D. Craig Miller, MD, elected as 2005-06 AATS vice president
D. Craig Miller, MD, the Thelma and Henry Doelger Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, was elected as the 2005-06 vice president of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the oldest cardiac surgical association in the world. He will ascend to president of the AATS in 2007-08.
Miller specializes in cardiac valve and thoracic aortic surgery, runs a research laboratory funded by two NIH RO1 grants and lists more than 440 peer-reviewed publications in his bibliography.
In AATS' 86-year history, there have been three other presidents from the medical school faculty: Norman Shumway, MD, PhD (1986-1987), Emile Holman, MD (1953-1954) and Leo Eloesser, MD (1936-1937). The announcement was made in April at the 2005 annual AATS meeting. (Source: Stanford Report)
