Education

The goal of the Pediatric Cardiology Training Program at Stanford is to develop talented pediatric cardiologists who will go on to have successful academic careers and will advance the field of pediatric cardiology. To accomplish this goal, the program endeavors to accomplish the following objectives:

  • to provide trainees with a foundation for understanding both normal and abnormal cardiovascular conditions of infancy, childhood and adolescence
  • to provide the opportunity to develop expertise in managing these cardiovascular disorders
  • to provide a life-long perspective on cardiovascular disease through continuity of care and extension of Pediatric Cardiology expertise to adults with congenital heart disease
  • to increase the understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders by scientific inquiry
  • to foster an environment of scholarship, self-instruction, introspection and critical thinking
