Are the classes recorded?
Our live classes are held on Zoom in an interactive format, and we encourage parents to participate and learn from the instructor and other participants. We are unable to provide recordings due to privacy issues on behalf of the instructors and parents. However, we do share slides and handouts from each class for participants to review.
We are curently in the process of adapting our most popular live classes to a pre-recorded, on-demand format that you can access anytime and anywhere. Our first on-demand class, Managing Challenging Behaviors, is open for enrollment!
I can't make one of the live class dates. Is it okay if another caregiver attends in my place?
To get the most out of our classes, we recommend that the same caregiver attends each week. Our ability to accommodate changes in caregivers varies by class and instructor. If you anticipate a challenge with attending all scheduled sessions, please send us an email at parentingcenter@stanford.edu before registering.
When does online registration close?
Registration for live classes closes at 5 PM PST one day before the start of the first session. Our live classes have a limited number of "seats," and will close early if the enrollment limit is reached. We strongly encourage you to enroll as soon as possible to reserve your spot in the class.
Registration for our on-demand class is rolling. Please refer to the course description for further information.
I can't attend this class anymore. Can I cancel and be refunded for my registration?
Live class refunds are charged a $20 processing fee. Due to our classes' limited enrollment size, cancellations two weeks or more before the first class are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations within two weeks of the first class are eligible for a 50% refund. We cannot refund cancellations requested within 24 hours of the first class, or after the class has started.
Our on-demand classes are non-refundable.
What does class tuition pay for?
Tuition for our live classes is based on the number of class dates, and provides access to expert clinicians, including the opportunity to ask questions and receive more personalized feedback during classes. You will receive copies of materials presented during classes, as well as a curated list of recommended resources. You will also be connected to a supportive network of other caregivers with similar concerns. Many of our parents even choose to remain connected with one another long after the class has ended. We have a limited number of scholarships available for each class; please send us an email at parentingcenter@stanford.edu to learn more about this option.
Will these classes be offered again in the future?
Live parenting classes are held three times a year, during the winter, spring, and fall quarters. Offerings each quarter are based on instructor availability and class demand. Please feel free to reach out at parentingcenter@stanford.edu to learn more and/or let us know which class topics you are interested in taking. We also encourage you to join our mailing list to stay updated on future offerings!
Can I get a certificate for this class?
While we do not offer certificates of completion, we can provide a written verification of attendance upon request via parentingcenter@stanford.edu. All our programs are intended to provide psychoeducation directly to parents and caregivers, and are not designed to meet any continuing education or career certification program's training requirements.
