  • Trial of Aripiprazole in Trichotillomania

    No medication has been reliably shown to benefit those suffering from trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling). The current study proposes to evaluate the effectiveness of the medication aripiprazole for treatment of trichotillomania (TTM). Patients will take a gradually increased dose of the medication in an open-label study to see whether it relieves hair-pulling urges, decreases hair pulling behavior and is well tolerated.

  • Tools for Health and Resilience Implemented After Violence Exposure (Project THRIVE)

    Sexual assault victimization is a common and particularly harmful form of trauma that is associated with increased risk for high-risk drinking and other conditions of public health concern, such as PTSD. Given evidence that sexual assault survivors who have low social support or receive negative social reactions to sexual assault disclosure are more likely to experience PTSD and drinking problems, improving social support is a novel target for intervention. The proposed study will attempt to prevent the onset of high-risk drinking and PTSD in sexual assault survivors by developing and testing a web-based early intervention aimed at increasing contact with social supporters and mitigating the harm of negative social reactions; ultimately, results will contribute to advancing the field's understanding of the potential for social support to mitigate the harm of trauma.

  • Study of Experimental Models of Pain and Inflammation.

    The experimental pain model studied in this proposal show characteristics of an inflamed wound with a pro-inflammatory response. This study will help discover candidate genetic and/or proteomic pain biomarkers that could provide objective and mechanism based tests to diagnose, monitor or quantify pain. We also hope to determine the measurable effects of a known non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) on biomarkers of pain and inflammation.

    This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with recurrent diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Sorafenib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.

  • Regorafenib and Methotrexate in Treating Participants With Recurrent or Metastatic KRAS Mutated Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    This phase II trial studies how well regorafenib works together with methotrexate in treating participants with metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer with tumors that harbor a KRAS mutation. Regorafenib is a targeted therapy that works on different cancer pathways to stop the growth of tumor cells and stop them from spreading. Methotrexate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving regorafenib and methotrexate together may work in treating participants with KRAS mutated non-small cell lung cancer.

  • Using Topical Sirolimus 2% for Patients With Epidermolysis Bullous Simplex (EBS) Study

    Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) simplex is a rare orphan disease caused by a mutation in DNA leading to abnormal dominant keratins in the skin. Patients with EB simplex develop lifelong painful thick soles on their feet, and current standard of care is supportive. This pilot study will target the dominant mutant keratin proteins in the skin to ameliorate the severity of EB simplex. The purpose is to improve the function of EB simplex feet with an application of topical sirolimus, 2%. The investigators plan on inhibiting the mTOR pathway to down regulate the translation of defective keratin proteins and work through anti proliferative pathways.

  • 18F-DCFPyL PET/MRI in Regional Nodal&Distant Metastases Detection in Intermediate &HR Prostate Cancer

    The purpose of this research study is to see if patients' tumor can be identified by 18F-DCFPyL PET/MRI scan. The radioactive study agent, 18FDCFPyL, combined with PET/MRI scan may be able to identify smaller tumors than the standard of care contrast-enhanced CT or MRI scan.

  • Veliparib, Radiation Therapy, and Temozolomide in Treating Younger Patients With Newly Diagnosed Diffuse Pontine Gliomas

    This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and the best dose of veliparib when given together with radiation therapy and temozolomide and to see how well they work in treating younger patients newly diagnosed with diffuse pontine gliomas. Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving veliparib with radiation therapy and temozolomide may kill more tumor cells.

  • Randomized Study to Compare CyberKnife to Surgical Resection In Stage I Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

    Lung cancer remains the most frequent cause of cancer death in both men and women in the world. Surgical resection using lobectomy with mediastinal lymph node dissection or sampling has been a standard of care for operable early stage NSCLC. Several studies have reported high local control and survival using SBRT in stage I NSCLC patients. SBRT is now an accepted treatment for medically inoperable patients with stage I NSCLC and patients with operable stage I lung cancer are entered on clinical protocols. The purpose of this study is to conduct a phase III randomized study to compare CyberKnife SBRT with surgery, the current standard of care for stage I operable NSCLC.
