CERC is the first university-based center in the United States whose research and education programs are exclusively dedicated to rapidly advancing cost-saving innovations across engineering, medicine, and management. Led by Dr. Arnold Milstein, CERC engages in interdisciplinary research that targets specific clinical conditions and services representing a large share of U.S. health care costs and which expert clinicians have identified as candidates for both lower spending and better outcomes.

The Department of Biomedical Data Science (DBDS) is an academic research community, comprised of faculty, students, and staff, whose mission is to advance precision health by leveraging large, complex, multi-scale real-world data through the development and implementation of novel analytical tools and methods.

The Department of Management Science and Engineering leads at the interface of engineering, business, and public policy. The department’s mission is, through education and research, to advance the design, management, operation, and interaction of technological, economic, and social systems.

Stanford Biodesign was founded to create an ecosystem of training and support for Stanford University students, fellows, and faculty with the talent and ambition to become health technology innovators. The center's goal is to look beyond research and discovery to provide the knowledge, skills, mentoring, and networking required to deliver meaningful and valuable innovations to patients everywhere. 

The Stanford Center for Biomedical (SCBE) is an interdisciplinary hub for faculty who do research, teaching, and service on topics in bioethics and medical humanities. SCBE and its faculty have been widely recognized for leadership on a range of issues. SCBE researchers have pioneered new approaches to studying the ethical issues presented by new technologies in biomedicine, including Artificial Intelligence, CRISPR and Gene Therapy, Stem Cell Research, Synthetic Biology, and the Human Brain Initiative.

The Stanford Healthcare AI Applied Research Team (HEA₃RT) is a team of clinicians, quality improvement experts, and scientists dedicated to the study and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies that solve important, practical problems for patients, providers, and health systems. We use a mixed methods approach and work with clinical, operational, and technical teams to advance the development and validation of clinically relevant models, with workflow integration at the forefront from inception to project completion.

SURF Stanford Medicine was founded to facilitate the delivery of world class advances in medical care through world class advances in hospital operations. SURF utilizes various technologies such as machine learning, mathematical optimization, simulation, and a variety of statistical, probabilistic, and computational tools to improve the quality of patient care.
