Fellowship Training Program

Program Overview

The fellowship program at Stanford University and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is committed to developing academic leaders in clinical, translational, and basic research aspects of pediatric hematology/oncology and stem cell transplantation.

  • Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is an internationally-renowned Children’s Hospital consistently honored by US News and World Report as one of the nation's best children's hospitals.
  • Affiliated with the NCI Designated Stanford Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is engaged in over 250 clinical trials investigating a broad spectrum of new diagnostic, prevention and treatment strategies.
  • The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest in the School of Medicine with over 249 pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists.
  • Located centrally in California in the Bay Area, Palo Alto is surrounded by rich cultural opportunities.

  • Clinical opportunities: A diverse and busy program that sees over 180 new oncology patients, over 420 new hematology patients and 40 stem cell transplant patients each year, making Stanford the busiest program in Northern California.
  • Research opportunities: Clinical, Translational and Basic Science Tracks
    • Advanced Residency Training at Stanford (ARTS) PhD training program.
    • The Stanford Center for Clinical and Translational Research (Spectrum) is a Stanford University
      independent research center funded in part by an NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA).
    • Cancer Biology PhD Program
    • The Graduate Program in Epidemiology through the Department of Health Research and Policy offers
      instruction and interdisciplinary research opportunities leading to a Masters in Epidemiology. The
      program is directed towards physicians with an interest in clinical research and provides the basic
      tools necessary to be successful.
    • 100 Open Research Studies: (52 Children’s Oncology Group Studies and 5 Industry-sponsored trials
      and 2 international studies.)
