Meet the Fellows

Third-Year Fellows

Daniela Aguilar Abisad, MD

Medical School
Tecnológico de Monterrey Escuela de Medicina

Pediatrics Residency
Nicklaus Children's Hospital

I was born and raised in Tampico, a small city in northeastern Mexico. I moved to Monterrey for medical school where I met my husband Rodrigo. During my community service year after med school, I worked as one of the primary physicians in one of Mexico’s largest Child Protective Services (DIF) institutions, where I had the opportunity to care for and empower children with type 1 diabetes who lived there. I was moved by how education and compassion can change a child’s life! I did my residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, where alongside great mentors and friends I was able to publish a systematic review in pediatric thyroid storm. I am really grateful and thrilled to be starting my peds-endocrine fellowship at Stanford! I am passionate about type 1 diabetes and new technologies, as well as advocacy and health equity.

During my free time I enjoy exploring nature and coffee shops with my husband! I also love reading, cooking, and playing the piano.

Julia Donner, MD

Medical School
Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University

Pediatrics Residency
Hasbro Children's Hospital, Brown University

I grew up between Gig Harbor, WA, and Munich, Germany with German as my native language. I moved to the East Coast following high school graduation to attend Brown University where I received my undergraduate degree in Biology with a focus on Physiology/Biotechnology. I stayed in Rhode Island to attend the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. In between medical school and the start of residency, I spent one year abroad exploring my interests in global health and academic medicine, working at the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap, Cambodia learning how to practice medicine in a resource-limited setting and at the University Children’s Hospital in Tübingen, Germany, conducting research in Pediatric Endocrinology. I then completed my Brown Pediatrics Residency at Hasbro Children’s Hospital where I continued to be involved in various research and medical education projects. I am so excited to be doing my fellowship at Stanford!

During my free time, I enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors, hiking, skiing, camping and biking with my husband Brendan (a medical critical care fellow), and our dog, Otto.

Second-Year-Fellows

Jeffrey Ferrell, MD

Medical School
University of Florida College of Medicine

Pediatrics Residency
UC San Francisco

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida with my twin sister Julia. Yes, we absolutely did have manatees and alligators in our backyard growing up! I went to undergrad at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where I learned how to identify plants and fish in the streams across the road from campus, slang lots of mud learning ceramics, travelled to Spain for a summer to complete my Spanish minor and had my marching band debut playing the mellophone (the French horn’s little brother and much easier to walk with).

I then went to the University of Florida for medical school where I was serendipitously placed on the endocrinology elective during my pediatrics rotation. The first week, I participated in a youth gender clinic, type 1 and type 2 diabetes clinics, an endocrine clinic and a Prader Willis clinic. The next week I learned firsthand what it means to live with diabetes from the incredible kids at Florida Diabetes Camp. I was SOLD! I began working with the pediatric endocrinology team at UF and we were able to fight for gender affirming EHR changes as well as create and present a workshop on transgender health for PAS.

I then left the south and moved cross-country to start pediatrics residency at the University of California, San Francisco. During that time, I continued to work closely with the pediatric endocrinology department, publishing a paper looking at presence of auto-antibodies in children with type 2 diabetes and once again acting as medical staff at the local diabetes camp.

After residency I took a job in San Francisco as a NICU hospitalist and have been working in that capacity for the last 3 years.

Kylie Seeley, MD

Medical School
Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Medicine

Pediatrics Residency
Stanford Healthcare/Lucile Packard Children's Hospital

I was born at Stanford Children's Hospital and am so thankful to be able to continue my medical training here! I have bounced back and forth between California and Oregon for most of my adult life - I was raised in the Bay Area and then attended University of Oregon Honors College where I majored in Environmental Science. After college, I returned to Palo Alto where I worked as a research coordinator for Stanford Dermatology. I went back to Oregon for medical school at OHSU where I also received my Masters in Public Health from Portland State University. My husband and I were thrilled to be able to move back to the Bay Area for my Pediatrics residency and now stay for Endocrinology fellowship. My research interests include clinical care of Diabetes Insipidus and equity within Type 1 diabetes management.

My son was born at LPCH during my residency and our little family loves exploring local coffee shops and trying new pastries. We also have two little terrier mutts, Steve and Stan!

First-Year-Fellows

Christopher Chow-Parmer, MD

Medical School
Yale University School of Medicine

Pediatrics Residency
Stanford Health Care/Lucile Packard Children's Hospital

I am extremely grateful to remain in the Stanford community for pediatric endocrinology fellowship! My experiences with this wonderful division while in residency at Stanford convinced me not only to pursue endocrinology, but that this was the absolute best place to do so.

I grew up in Orinda, California (in the East Bay). I attended college and medical school at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, with several in-between years doing translational cancer research at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. My time in New England has given me a deeper appreciation for weather as well as what some describe as extreme opinions about pizza. I returned to California to complete pediatrics residency at Stanford and stayed for an additional year as a chief resident. In residency, my academic interests have included medical education and the pediatric workforce crisis, and I look forward to applying lessons learned to pediatric endocrinology education and recruitment.

Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving, playing the drums, and grilling in the yard, as well as spending time with my wife Caitlin (a hospitalist at adult Stanford) and our cat Marnie.

Marisol Perez Zurita, MD

Medical School
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Facultad de Medicina

Pediatrics Residency
Rutgers Health/Monmouth Medical Center

I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, and from an early age, I knew I wanted to become a doctor, inspired by my parents' kindness and dedication. During medical school, I fell in love with endocrinology — I’m simply fascinated by how hormones orchestrate every aspect of our lives. After graduation, I had the honor of working in a rural community affected by chronic child malnutrition. It was there that I truly began to understand the power of community collaboration and resilience. The families I worked with taught me lessons no textbook ever could — that strength and hope can grow even in the harshest conditions.

My path then led me to New York, where I collaborated in pediatric clinics while preparing for the USMLE exams. During my pediatric residency in New Jersey, I was fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors and gain a deeper understanding of the profound impact advocacy can have in pediatrics. One project especially close to my heart has been implementing a menstrual insecurity screening in our outpatient clinic, which has been awarded grants from both APPD and AAP-SOPT. I am passionate about continuing this work, striving to be a dedicated resource in promoting community health, particularly for historically underrepresented populations.

I also had the incredible opportunity to complete a pediatric endocrinology rotation at Stanford through the PRESS program. Words cannot fully express how it felt to be welcomed into such a supportive and inspiring community. The mentorship, collaboration, and shared sense of purpose made it an unforgettable experience. The opportunity to return as a pediatric endocrinology fellow feels like a dream come true.

My heart remains deeply committed to advocacy, health equity, and community health. And when I’m not in the hospital, you’ll likely find me baking something sweet, flowing through a yoga session, or getting lost in a good book. I’m also excited to explore California’s breathtaking national parks and embrace every adventure this next chapter has to offer.
