Application Process

If you are interested in applying to the ACGME-accredited Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Stanford, our program uses the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). All positions will be posted in the NRMP system and applications will only be accepted through ERAS.

Required Documentation to be Submitted via ERAS:

  • Complete ERAS Application
  • Medical School Transcript (certified English translation if from foreign institution)
  • Three letters of recommendation (more than three is optional)
  • Personal Statement
  • Current CV
  • USMLE and/or COMLEX transcript(s) with scores to date
  • MSPE/Dean's Letter (Required for U.S. medical schools; provide if available for IMGs)
  • ECFMG certification (if applicable)
  • Photograph for ERAS system (optional)

Deadline: ERAS applications with all supporting materials should be uploaded no later than August 15th, the year prior to the planned start date of the fellowship. Earlier submissions are encouraged.

NRMP Match
We will be matching two fellows for 2024. The Fall Match lists are due in mid-November with results published by November 30th.

Interviews
All applications will be reviewed initially by the fellowship program director as well as one or more faculty members of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology. We will offer interviews to selected candidates, and these will be scheduled in September through early November of the year prior to the fellowship start date. This year, we will be offering virtual Zoom interviews on Tuesdays to selected applicants. We will only offer interviews to candidates who have a complete ERAS application.

On the day of the interview, candidates meet with the fellowship director, division chief, fellows and with several other faculty, pending clinical commitments. Candidates may be scheduled to attend one of the clinical conferences.

We welcome and encourage candidates to contact the program director, faculty, or fellows after their interview with any follow-up questions they may have that were not completely covered during the visit; however, please note that the program may limit contact with candidates after the interview to comply with NRMP policies to avoid pressuring candidates as they make their ranking choices.

International Medical Graduates (IMG)
Stanford welcomes applications from IMGs who have completed an ACGME-accredited general pediatrics residency. We welcome well-qualified candidates who may require J-1 visa sponsorship. Learn about further Graduate Medical Education office (GME) requirements and application procedures for IMGs.

Orientation & Start Dates

The mandatory Graduate Medical Education office (GME) and Pediatric Department orientations are typically held the two days prior (July 5th and July 6th) to the program start date of July 7th. The program begins with approximately 1-2 weeks of on-site bootcamp training and shadowing within the division. See the Graduate Medical Education office (GME) site for useful information for incoming fellows on benefits and stipends, policies, and other resources.
