Megan Martin
Ph.D. Student in Bioengineering, admitted Autumn 2024

Bio

I am a Bioengineering PhD student in the Radiological Sciences Laboratory. My research interest is in advancing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques to understand brain physiology, enhance disease diagnosis, and improve patient care. Before joining Stanford Bioengineering in 2024, I investigated the impact of congenital heart defects on neurodevelopment as part of the Pediatric Heart and Brain Research Group at UCSF. I graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2021 with a BS in Chemistry and Mathematics.

Madison George
Ph.D. Student in Bioengineering, admitted Autumn 2023

Bio

A life-long athlete, I am strongly influenced by my background as a D1 pole vaulter and hope to effect change in the way we diagnose injuries and enhance sport performance. I am co-advised between the Imaging of Musculoskeletal Function (IMF) Lab with Feliks Kogan and the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab (NMBL) with Scott Delp and am investigating non-invasive imaging biomarkers of exertional compartment syndrome. My hometown is Scottsdale, AZ and I graduated from Elon University ('23) with a BS in Engineering (conc. biomedical engineering) and a minor in exercise science. My undergraduate thesis was an interdisciplinary research and development project leading to the design of the first women's pole vaulting shoes.
Brian Boitnott
Ph.D. Student in Biomedical Physics, admitted Autumn 2023

Bio

I am currently a PhD student in Biomedical Physics within the Department of Radiology. In the two years prior to Stanford, I was at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where I worked on airborne laser radar systems and was on the core team developing a laser-ultrasound system for medical imaging. My interests are at the intersection between emerging technology innovation, technology transfer and implementation, and long-term innovation strategy.
