Residents participate in mock oral examinations twice per year to prepare our residents for the American Board of Surgery Certifying Examination.. In the late winter/early spring, the PGY4 and PGY 5 classes participate a mock orals session hosted by the Stanford faculty. In the late spring, the PGY5 class participates in the Bay Area mock orals, which is a collaboration among the general surgery training programs at Stanford, UCSF and UCSF East Bay. Both sessions cover a broad range of general surgery topics and mimic the testing environment. Residents received real-time feedback about their performance, focusing both on knowledge and presentation.
