Thomas Anthony ("Tony") Anderson
Clinical Professor, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine
Clinical Focus
Acute Pain Management, Regional Anesthesia, Anesthesia, Chronic Post-Surgical Pain
Research Interests
My lab's research focuses on two areas:
1. Focused ultrasound for peripheral nervous system modulation- We are interested in the potential of focused ultrasound to modulate peripheral nerves and improve both acute and chronic pain.
2. Pediatric perioperative outcomes- Our goals are to understand A) how various perioperative pain management strategies affect outcomes in children who undergo surgery and B) whether disparities in the perioperative pain management of children occur.

David Drover
Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine
Clinical Focus
Anesthesia for Liver Transplantation, Anesthesia for ENT Surgery, Difficult Airway, Neuroanesthesia, Anesthesia
Research Interests
Field of clinical pharmacology. This involves analysis of what the body does to a drug (pharmacokinetics) and how exactly a specific drug affects the body (pharmacodynamics). His research starts at the level of new drug development with detailed analysis of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of a medication.

Gregory Hammer
Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine (Pediatric) and of Pediatrics (Critical Care)
Research Interests
Dr. Hammer's primary research interests are pediatric pharmacology and perioperative care of children undergoing cardiac surgery. He has numerous funded research projects in these areas, including an NIH grant for $4.3 million to study the pharmacology of sodium nitroprusside, a drug commonly used for blood pressure control in the operating room and ICU. Dr. Hammer has two other NIH grants and other ongoing research projects in the area of pediatric pharmacology.
