Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center

History of Our Program

Our Founder

Dr. Robert A. Chase, Emile Holman Professor of Surgery Emeritus founded the Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center and has devoted his career to approaching medical and surgical problems through the efforts of a team. He is considered to be a pioneer in the field of surgery of the hand and of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Hand surgery, in the vision of Dr. Chase, represents a union of three specialties: General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Orthopaedic Surgery. Our team of faculty physicians honors this philosophy through a collaborative effort between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, both dedicated to the study and treatment of problems affecting the hand and upper limb.
