Thymic Development

The Weinacht Laboratory has an opening for a creative, motivated and collaborative postdoctoral fellow with interest in thymic development. Successful candidates will join the Pediatric Division of Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

The project will focus on understanding and recapitulating thymic development using pluripotent stem cells. Our laboratory has used single cell transcriptomics of human fetal anterior foregut-derived organs to dissect transcription factor networks directing commitment and specialization of the thymic epithelial stroma. This work can now serve as a basis from which to explore the activation of lineage specific transcription factor networks in pluripotent stem cells using CRISPR-activation (CRISPRa).

PhD (cell biology or molecular biology) or MD/PhD applicants with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals in at least one of the following areas: stem cell biology, developmental biology, immunology, genetics
  • Outstanding personal initiative and communication skills.
  • Excellent molecular and cell biology skills
  • Candidates should email an updated CV, complete contact information for three references and a cover letter describing their past research experience, career goals and a statement of future research interest (1-2 pages) to Katja Weinacht at kgw1@stanford.edu
