Welcome to the Stanford Radiology Residency Program!

The Stanford Diagnostic Radiology Residency is a supportive yet rigorous environment, where you will learn from faculty who are acclaimed world-wide for superb teaching, outstanding patient care, and ground-breaking research.

Our radiology residency program seeks to train the future leaders of radiology through a wide variety of clinical rotations and opportunities for academic enrichment. Residents provide care to the diverse patient populations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area including Stanford Health Care, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

Stanford Radiology is deeply committed to recruiting a diverse class of outstanding medical students. We know that diverse teams not only perform at a higher level and provide better patient care, but also enrich each other, faculty, and staff. Though we define diversity broadly, including first generation to college and economic adversity, we especially seek to recruit those traditionally underrepresented in medicine and radiology: minorities, women, and trainees with disabilities.

Stanford’s curriculum affords residents the flexibility to pursue endeavors about which they feel truly passionate. Most of our residents have devoted time during their four-year residency to perform cutting-edge research, advance imaging informatics, launch innovative companies, hone clinical skills through early clinical subspecialization, learn medical design innovation, and participate in hospital-wide quality improvement projects.

A healthy work-life balance is encouraged during residency training. Our residents enjoy the beautiful climate and cultural and geographic diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is an easy drive from the Pacific Ocean, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Yosemite, and San Francisco. Palo Alto and the Stanford campus offer many unique opportunities for outdoor activities, dining, sporting events, and the cultural benefits fostered by the world-class university and city at the heart of the technology industry.

I look forward to answering any questions you may have about our program.
