September 3, 2025: NMS Match registration will open to genetic counseling applicants

Mid-Late September: Stanford's online graduate application opens

October 8, 2025 1:00pm pacific: Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) Program application deadline

December 2, 2025: MS genetic counseling application deadline for Fall 2026 admission.

December 2025 - January 2026: Applications are reviewed; Applicants are selected for phone interviews (invited by email in late January or early February)

Late January - Early February 2026: Phone interviews conducted

Mid-February 2026: Interview invitations are sent by email

Late February - March 2026: Interviews conducted

• In order to maximize equity, all of our interviews are held virtually. Candidates are welcome to visit campus at any time (in agreement with Stanford's visitor policy). We will also coordinate several options for interviewees to meet with students after we have completed our interviews and finalized our rank list but before applicants' rank lists are due.

April 7, 2026: NMS rank order list deadline for applicants and programs

April 15, 2026: Match Day!

Due to the high volume of application materials that we receive, we cannot respond to individual requests for the status of your application. To check the status of your application materials (e.g. letters of recommendation received, official ETS scores, etc.), please log into your application account. We will contact you in early January if we are missing any application materials.

TOEFL scores

It takes approximately two weeks after you submit your online application for official ETS scores to be paired with your online application. The institution code for Stanford is 4704. No department code is required. Your self-reported scores can suffice to begin review of your application. However, a final decision will not be made until official scores have been received.
