Making a Donation

Our laboratory works at the intersection of neuroscience and neuroengineering to understand both how neurons in the retina mediate vision and how to engineer novel devices that can restore vision to people blinded by retinal degeneration. We use a unique technological approach for large-scale multi-electrode recording and stimulation of the retina to both understand the visual signals the retina normally produces and how to restore those signals in a degenerated retina using an electronic implantable device. Funding is needed to experimentally probe the function of new cell types that we have recently discovered in the human retina and determine how effectively they can be targeted for vision restoration. Your gift will support the efforts of dedicated graduate students and postdocs performing these demanding experiments and analyses on the visual signals that our eye sends to our brain.
