Bertha Chen, MD
Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Gynecology - Urogynecology) and, by courtesy, of Urology
Clinical Focus
Gynecology, Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Telemedicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
Research Interests
Dr. Chen’s research examines the molecular causes of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. Recognizing that urinary incontinence linked to demise of smooth muscle sphincter function, she is investigating the potential use of stem cell regeneration to restore muscle capacity.

Brian Knutson
Professor of Psychology
Research Interests
My lab and I seek to elucidate the neural basis of emotion (affective neuroscience), and explore implications for decision-making (neuroeconomics) and psychopathology (neurophenomics).

Helena Chmura Kraemer
Professor of Biostatistics in Psychiatry, Emerita
Research Interests
I am interested in the methodology pertinent to dealing with research problems where biological and behavioral interests meet. These interests have been applied not only in psychiatric research, but in those areas of Cardiology, Pediatrics and other fields of medicine in which behavioral research is becoming ever more salient.

Jennifer Lee
Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology) and, by courtesy, of Epidemiology and Population Health
Clinical Focus
Diabetes and Metabolism, Endocrinology, preventive health and risk prediction, Endocrine aging (cardiometabolism, cancers, bone health, body composition, cognition), sex hormone imbalance, Women’s health
Research Interests
I am a clinical scientist (PhD epidemiology), endocrinologist, and CMO at VAPA Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center. My group does pattern and prediction mapping along the life-course of interventions/outcomes and how healthcare system can positively impact health longitudinally. We use novel molecular epi, 'big' data like EHRs using multiple designs/methods/technologies. These interests cut across multiple complex chronic diseases and lifespan.

Ruth O'Hara
Director, Spectrum, Senior Associate Dean, Research and Lowell W. and Josephine Q. Berry Professor
Research Interests
Dr. O'Hara's research aims to investigate how cognitive information processing deficits subserve affective symptoms in psychiatric disorders, and interact with key brain networks integral to these disorders. To do so, she has implemented a translational, interdisciplinary program that encompasses cellular models, brain and behavioral assays of affective and cognitive information processing systems in psychiatric disorders across the lifespan.
