Prepare for Your Visit

The BRUNO Lab welcomes participating families to our research lab at Stanford Medicine for an MRI scan and assessments.

Participating families receive a detailed overview and schedule via email. If you haven’t or need additional details, please email us at developingbrain@stanford.edu.

Parking and Directions

The BRUNO Lab is located in the Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research, at 1520 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto, CA 94304.

The MRI scan and MRI simulator practice will happen at the Stanford Center for Cognitive and Neurobiological Imaging, located at the basement of the Psychology Department, 450 Jane Stanford Way, Building 420, Rooms 61-76, part of Stanford’s picturesque Main Quad at the end of Palm Drive. For both MRI and VR assessments, we will meet you at the top of the Stanford Oval.

The VR assessment will happen at the VR Lab located in McClatchy Hall, 450 Jane Stanford Way, Building 120, Room 411, also part of Stanford's Main Quad at the end of Palm Drive.

Practice the statue game. This means practicing to stay as still as possible for as long as you can.

In the MRI, you have to stay still or else the brain picture will be blurry. Practicing is easy - lay down on your bed or floor, keep your hands by your sides and stay still. It is really important not to move your head, but you will still need to keep all parts of your body still, even your toes!
