  • Panitumumab-IRDye800 in Detecting Cancer in Participants With Lung Cancer During Surgery

This phase I/II trial studies the best dose and timing of panitumumab-IRDye800 in detecting cancer in participants with lung cancer during the surgery. Panitumumab-IRDye800 is a combination of the antibody drug panitumumab and IRDye800CW, an investigational dye that can be seen using a special camera. Panitumumab-IRDye800 may attach to tumor cells and make them more visible during surgery in patients with lung cancer.

  • Promoting Long-term Behavior Change to Reduce CVD Risk

Once intervention class or staff contact is removed, obese adults participating in behavioral weight-loss programs often give up healthy eating habits and regain weight. We examined whether taste-based goal setting, which minimizes perceived deprivation by promoting taste and moderation, would sustain long-term reductions in saturated fat and body mass index (BMI).

  • Radiation Therapy With or Without Trastuzumab in Treating Women With Ductal Carcinoma In Situ Who Have Undergone Lumpectomy

This randomized phase III trial studies radiation therapy to see how well it works with or without trastuzumab in treating women with ductal carcinoma in situ who have undergone lumpectomy. Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective with or without trastuzumab in treating ductal carcinoma in situ.

  • Stanford Healthy Heart Study

People with elevated blood pressure are at higher risk of having a heart attack or stroke than people with lower blood pressure. Losing a modest amount of weight-such as 15 or 20 pounds-can reduce the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. However, it can often be a struggle to maintain weight loss over time.

This study examines whether two behavioral weight-management programs can help people maintain weight loss over time. In this study, 346 adults will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to one of the 12-month programs and followed for 36 months (i.e., 3 years) to see how their body weight may change.

Long-Term Objective: Determine if high-frequency PEMF therapy reduces pain in patients with thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis (OA).

Study Design and Methods: This will be a randomized controlled pilot study with 60 subjects with CMC OA randomly divided in two groups. Thirty subjects will receive high-frequency PEMF therapy overlying the CMC joint overnight daily for four weeks. • Pain Relief After Trapeziectomy: Ibuprofen & Acetaminophen Versus Oxycodone

In the US, pain management after surgery for surgical treatment of osteoarthritis at the base of the thumb typically consists of prescription opioids during the early recovery phase. Given the highly addictive nature of prescription opioids, guidelines are being evaluated by hand surgeons to reduce opioid use while still maintaining pain control after surgery. A promising approach is to use non-narcotic medication as the first line of treatment. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy of a combination of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen and acetaminophen, in comparison to a morphine analogue substance (oxycodone) for pain management in the first 30 days after surgery.

  • Pharmacokinetic Study of Sub-q and IV Treprostinil in Kids With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)

    Abstract

This is a multi-center, open-label pharmacokinetic (PK) study examining the relationship between the steady-state plasma concentration and dose of treprostinil delivered intravenously or subcutaneously in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Subjects will be divided into 5 cohorts by age. A blood sample will be obtained from each subject at steady state. Additional blood samples will be obtained from a small subset of subjects with a 15% increase or with at least a 15ng/kg/min increase in dose from steady state. Samples will be sent to a pharmacokinetic laboratory for analysis. Linear regression analysis will be used to determine the relationship between the steady state plasma concentration and drug dose. A power model will be used to assess dose proportionality.
