Graduate student Steffi Perkins won 2nd Place Oral Presentation at the Interventional MRI study group meeting at the 2018 ISMRM for her presentation, "Perceptual Accuracy of a Mixed-Reality System for MR-Guided Breast Surgical Planning in the Operating Room". Congratulations, Steffi!
This work describes testing of the accuracy of an Augmented-Reality HoloLens based system to show the location of a tumor prior to breast lumpectomy surgery. The testing was performed by surgeons in the operating room, prior to actual surgery. Ongoing work in this area seeks to combine markers with other devices to improve accuracy to locate tumors that are non-palpable.
