  • Improving the Diagnosis of Common Variable Immune Deficiency

This is an observational, case-control study with a single blood draw among two cohorts, patients with antibody deficiency (e.g., CVID) and healthy controls. Samples will be analyzed by mass cytometry (CyTOF) to examine the major signaling pathways of all circulating innate and adaptive immune cell types, as well as whole exome sequencing. The goal is to improve our general understanding of the human immune response to infections and the diagnosis of CVID.

  • Focal MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound Treatment of Localized Intermediate Risk Prostate Lesions

The hypothesis of this study is that focal treatment with ExAblate MRgFUS has the potential to be an effective non-invasive treatment for intermediate risk, organ-confined prostate lesions, with a low incidence of morbidity. The study hypothesis will be tested by measuring treatment-related safety and initial effectiveness parameters in the ExAblate MRgFUS treated patients, as described above.

  • Imaging Collaterals in Acute Stroke (iCAS)

Stroke is caused by a sudden blockage of a blood vessel that delivers blood to the brain. Unblocking the blood vessel with a blood clot removal device restores blood flow and if done quickly may prevent the disability that can be caused by a stroke.

However, not all stroke patients benefit from having their blood vessel unblocked.

The aim of this study is to determine if special brain imaging, called MRI, can be used to identify which stroke patients are most likely to benefit from attempts to unblock their blood vessel with a special blood clot removal device. In particular, we will assess in this trial whether a noncontrast MR imaging sequence, arterial spin labeling (ASL), can demonstrate the presence of collateral blood flow (compared with a gold standard of the angiogram) and whether it is useful to predict who will benefit from treatment.

  • Effects of Advertising on Young Children's Perception of Taste

To test whether young children's actual taste preferences are influenced by the natural marketing environment in which they live. To do so, we tested whether preschool children would like the taste of a food more if they thought it was from a heavily marketed source. We asked preschool children to taste identical foods in packaging from this heavily marketed source and plain packaging, and to tell us if they tasted the same or if one tasted better. We hypothesized that, even among a sample of 3-5 year olds participating in Head Start, a federally-sponsored preschool program for low-income families, young children would prefer the taste of foods perceived to be from the heavily marketed source.

  • Global Utilization And Registry Database for Improved heArt preservatioN

The primary objective of this study is to collect real-world clinical performance data to assess the clinical outcomes of patients receiving heart transplants using donor hearts transported via the SherpaPak CTS System. These results will be compared to outcomes of retrospective patients whose hearts were transported with the previous standard method.

  • Hydrocortisone for Term Hypotension

This trial will evaluate the effects of a 7-day course of hydrocortisone therapy on short-term morbidity, cardiovascular function, long-term neurodevelopment, and mortality in critically ill, term and late preterm infants diagnosed with cardiovascular insufficiency as defined by a need for inotrope therapy in the first 72 hours of age.

  • Exploring Semi-Quantitative Pregnancy Tests and Their Impact on Reproductive Health Service Provision

This study will examine the feasibility, practicality, utility and usability of a semi-quantitative urine pregnancy test (dBest One Step hCG Panel Test Kit) recently approved by the food and drug administration (FDA) for both Professional (physician office) and over-the-counter (consumer) use. The study seeks to:

    1. Assess the correlation of this pregnancy test results with serum values (as distinct from urine) hCG.

    2. Assess whether or not time of day of urine collection has any impact on the outcome of the dBest test.

    3. Assess user comprehension of the pregnancy test, especially assessment of the result.

  • Evaluating the Safety of Long Term Dosing of Romiplostim (Formerly AMG 531) in Thrombocytopenic Subjects With Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS)

This is an open label extension study of romiplostim for treatment of thrombocytopenia (platelet count ≤ 50 x 10^9/L) in MDS subjects. The study is designed to assess the long-term safety of treatment with romiplostim, as measured by incidence of overall adverse events, the incidence of bleeding events, the utilization of platelet transfusions, and the duration of platelet response. The study will further describe the time to disease progression to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and survival.

  • Evaluation of RBS2418 in Subjects With Advanced, Metastatic Solid Tumors

RBS2418 (investigational product) is a specific immune modulator, working through ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase I (ENPP1), designed to lead to anti-tumor immunity by increasing endogenous 2'-3'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate (cGAMP) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP levels) and reducing adenosine production in the tumors. RBS2418 has the potential to be an important therapeutic option for subjects both as monotherapy and in combination with checkpoint blockade. This study is an open-label, multi-site Phase 1a/1b study of RBS2418, a selective ENPP1 inhibitor, in combination with pembrolizumab or as a monotherapy in subjects with advanced unresectable, recurrent or metastatic tumors.

  • Efficacy Study of Preconception Treatment of an Asymptomatic Bacterial Infection in an Infertility Population

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal infection characterized by a pathologic shift in the normal vaginal flora. BV has been associated with a number of poor reproductive outcomes, including infertility, preterm labor and premature rupture of membranes. If BV does disrupt normal embryologic development, then the treatment of BV prior to conception may improve implantation rates and other pregnancy outcomes in the infertile population.

This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in which infertile women undergoing intrauterine insemination or embryo transfer are screened for BV prior to treatment. Those patients who screen positive for BV will then be randomized into the treatment arm(metronidazole 500mg by mouth twice daily for 7 days) or the control arm (placebo by mouth twice daily for 7 days). The primary outcome, positive pregnancy test rate (i.e. biochemical pregnancy rate), will then be assessed. Secondary outcomes, such as clinical pregnancy rate, miscarriage rate, and live birth rate will also be examined.
