Hearing loss is incurable. Our long-term goal is to develop biological treatments to restore sound sensation in patients

We study how to efficiently generate inner ear cells from stem cells. In parallel, we study how birds recover from hearing loss and screen for potential regenerative targets that can be activated with drugs or through gene therapy. We envision translating our findings to animal models and ultimately to human patients.

We support inclusive, diverse, and equitable conduct of research

We resist attempts to dictate uniformity and embrace all forms of diversity. Members of the lab are encouraged to be different and to feel good about it.
