Sudden Death in the Young Athlete: A Challenge for Cardiovascular Screening

This seminar will provide an overview of the evidence for pre-participation screening with a focus on sudden cardiac death. This review will be followed by a detailed analysis of the potential costs, benefits, and challenges of screening protocols for identifying student-athletes at increased risk for sudden cardiac death. A formal cost effectiveness analysis will be presented and opportunities for future study detailed.
