Flu Crew

Description

Stanford Flu Crew is an entirely student-run organization that was founded in 2001 by Walt Newman and first year medical students that focuses on providing free flu vaccines to the Stanford community. Flu Crew volunteers provide free flu vaccines for Stanford students and faculty, and to underserved members of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties at mushroom farms, homeless shelters, churches, and libraries. This program is a well-established and widely publicized initiative that has been featured by the CDC, on NPR, and in local community newspapers.

This is a unique opportunity for Medical and PA Students of all levels of training to get actively involved in providing patient care. The Stanford Flu Crew (now in its 19th year!) is an innovative model for vaccine education and clinical experience for MD/PA students.

Mission Statement: “We believe in immersing tomorrow’s providers in population-based health promotion and bringing vaccinations to the doorsteps of communities”
