Celebrating 2025 Graduate Student Research

An incredible 13 PhD graduates were mentored by Radiology faculty this year! Five of the graduate thesis projects are spotlighted here, spanning across new AI models to next-generation biosensors, targeted drug delivery vehicles, imaging the effect of absence seizures on epilepsy, and open-source analysis toolboxes for cardiac imaging.

A game-changing way to treat stroke

Stanford Radiology researchers contributed to a new technology to remove blood clots that could significantly improve success rates in treating strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms, and other clot-related diseases. The millispinner thrombectomy approach is more than twice as effective as current techniques.

LMIC Radiology Free Webinar Series Helps Connect Professionals Worldwide

A free Radiology webinar series designed for low- and middle-income countries was launched to provide high-quality, accessible education and real-world clinical insights tailored for resource-limited settings.

Nano-scale biosensor lets scientists monitor molecules in real time

Inspired by intestinal mucosa, H. Tom Soh has created the SENSBIT system, a long-lasting biosensor that can track in vivo pharmacokinetics in real time.

Open-source AI Tool to Detect Osteoporosis Gains FDA Clearance

An open-source tool developed at Stanford Radiology for detecting osteoporosis biomarkers on routinely acquired imaging recently received FDA clearance.

Stanford Radiology Shines at ISMRM 2025 Annual Meeting

Stanford Radiology affiliates recognized by Lauterbur Lecture, Junior Fellowship, runner-up young investigator award, and 13 merit awards, among others.

H. Tom Soh Named W.M. Keck Foundation Professor

H. Tom Soh, Professor of Radiology and of Electrical Engineering, has been named the W.M. Keck Foundation Professor in Electrical Engineering at Stanford.

Dr. Quynh-Thu Le, Interim Chair of Stanford Radiology, received the ASTRO Gold Medal for exemplary contributions in clinical care, research, teaching, and service in radiation oncology.

AAR Honors
Curt Langlotz and Nancy Pham

The Association of Academic Radiology honored Dr. Curt Langlotz with the Gold Medal Award and Dr. Nancy Pham as a CERRAF Fellow for their outstanding contributions to the field of radiology.

New MRI technique lights up ‘zombie cells’ that contribute to arthritis

Research led by Stanford Radiology points to the first non-invasive imaging method to visualize senescent cells, using an MRI contrast agent to light up the dormant cells.
