Patient Care

The Stanford Cardiovascular Institute encompasses a wide range of adult and pediatric patient care and research activities in the clinical, basic, and translational sciences. Cardiovascular Institute scientists and clinicians are working together to develop and deliver new therapies to better meet the needs of patients afflicted with cardiovascular disease.

Numerous clinical trials are currently underway in such areas as interventional cardiology, heart failure, vascular interventions, aneurysm, artery obstruction, clinical electrophysiology, and disease prevention. See Stanford's clinical trials website.

U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Stanford adult and pediatric cardiac services among the top hospitals nationwide. Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Stanford Hospital & Clinics provides clinical services to more than 250,000 patients annually. Many Stanford faculty and clinicians are involved in patient care at the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Stanford delivers compassionate and cutting-edge preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients in the coronary care unit, inpatient cardiology service, cardiovascular clinic, cardiac catherization and interventional laboratories, echocardiography laboratory, electrophysiology laboratory, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service.
