WELL Taiwan 1, Fu Jen University

WELL Taiwan 1, a collaboration with Fu Jen Catholic University, closed their site in March of 2019 after concluding recruitment of 3,000+ individuals. All data items as well as 45,000 biospecimens from Taiwan are now stored at Stanford for future biochemical and molecular studies. Kudos to the WELL Taiwan 1 team led by Principal Investigator Professor Chien-An Sun, and Research Coordinator Hui-Ting Yang. 

Meet the WELL-Taiwan Team

Chien-An Sun, ScD, Principal Investigator of WELL Taiwan 1

Dr. Chien-An Sun received a doctoral degree in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University. He is the director of Big Data Research Center and a professor of epidemiology at Fu-Jen Catholic University. Dr. Sun has long been engaged in population-based epidemiologic studies on chronic disease, including cancers and metabolic disorders. He has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Sun leads the wellness cohort study in Taiwan (WELL Taiwan). He is also the principal investigator (PI) for epidemiologic studies on the relationship between sleep disturbances and metabolic disorders.

San-Lin You, PhD, Co-Investigator of WELL Taiwan 1

Dr. San-Lin You is an assistant professor of school of medicine at Fu Jen Catholic University. He is a Co-PI for the Taiwan Cancer Registry. Dr. You is an epidemiologist, and received his doctoral degree in Public Health from the National Taiwan University and received postdoctoral training at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica, and Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, National Taiwan University. Dr. You has a longstanding interest in population health data translational research, aiming to bridge the gap between preventive medicine and clinical medicine. Dr. You has published over 150 manuscripts and numerous book chapters.

Hui-Ting Yang, Research Coordinator of WELL Taiwan 1

Hui-Ting Yang graduated from Fu Jen University Institute of Applied Statistics. She is a research assistant in the WELL Taiwan cohort. The main work content of the WELL Taiwan cohort is data checking, data analysis and data management. She used to work in the Center for Survey Research, RCHSS, Academia Sinica, conducting survey and sample design, and data checking and analysis.
