Per Stanford University policy, visiting medical students are not granted remote access to patient data. Therefore, while on the SHC or LPCH premises, after students are connected to the network, they can call for their temporary password. SHC Epic and LPCH Epic systems are accessed separately. For detailed instructions, refer to the onboarding dashboard that was sent from the Office of Medical Student Affairs, Registrar's Office prior to the clerkship start date.
When students are physically located at the hospital and able to connect to the network, they will call the provided phone number(s) to request their username and password.
For LPCH, it is strongly recommended that students use specific wording, such as, "I am a Stanford visiting medical student and I need my username and password." Be prepared to give them an identifier, such as the last four digits of the SSN.
After students receive their username/S-ID and password, they will be able to log on to the Epic system.
Clerkship coordinators will send information regarding other clerkship site access as needed.
