Clinic Directions

The Jill and John Freidenrich Center for Translational Research is located at 800 Welch Road in Palo Alto, 35 miles south of San Francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose. The building is also referred to as the FCTRU or CTRU.

For Mass Transit

Take Caltrain to the Palo Alto-University Avenue Caltrain Station. Once there, the Stanford Marguerite shuttle picks up riders near the southbound train platform. Volunteers can take the dark-purple MC (Medical Center) line which stops right in front of 780 Welch Road. A shuttle map and schedule details shuttle frequency and bus stops.

Parking Options

There is free parking for all research volunteers. Volunteers should park behind the 800 Welch building in the “Special Permit” spaces, then pick up a parking pass from the front desk of 800 Welch and place it on the car’s dashboard. There is pay parking for all others visiting the center.

There is plenty of visitor parking behind and beneath 780 Welch Road. Visitors can park in any numbered spot and then enter that number in the pay machine next to 780 Welch. Parking is $1.50 per hour and limited to three hours maximum from Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.  Parking at all other times is free of charge.

Driving Directions

From Highway 101 North or South

• Exit on Embarcadero Road West
• Follow Embarcadero Road for about two miles
• Cross El Camino Real, after which the road becomes Galvez Street
• Turn RIGHT on Arboretum Road
• Turn LEFT on Quarry Road
• Turn RIGHT on Welch Road
• Turn RIGHT into the driveway at 780 Welch Road and follow it around to the next building, which is 800 Welch Road.
• Please park behind the building labeled "CTRU Research Volunteer Parking, Special Permit Only"
• Please come into the clinic on the FIRST FlOOR of the FCTRU for a parking voucher to put on your dashboard

From Highway 280 North or South

• Take the Sand Hill Road exit , toward the east
  
• Turn RIGHT on Pasteur Drive
• Turn LEFT on Welch Road
• Turn LEFT into the driveway at 780 Welch Road and continue around to the back of 800 Welch for parking
• Please park behind the building labeled "CTRU Research Volunteer Parking, Special Permit Only"
  
• The main entrance is along the side of the building.  There is a front desk where you can check in.
