Non-Core teaching is all teaching that is not core or undergraduate. It includes all non-core MD or Graduate courses and individual study. Examples include elective clerkships, thesis & dissertation, graduate program courses, medical scholars, etc.
Non-Core Courses are funded at the rate of $460 per student unit, with a reduced rate of 25% after the first 105 units, and an additional scaled supplement for =>3-credit courses with total student units between 15 and 90. The calculator can help you to estimate the funding by course.
Funding goes directly to the department of each primary instructor, and is expected to cover all course costs (Teaching Assistants, syllabi, supplies, etc.). If the Course Director believes the projected funding will not cover the cost of a course, he or she may apply for Innovation funding.
